research behind Play

‘Always Playtime’ uses a research based approach to our services in order to provide an enriching experience for children.

Here is a very brief sample of some of the research that exists and conversations regarding modern theories.

Adventure and Play.

“The Land is a short documentary film about a Welsh adventure playground of the same name. Since its premiere at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, The Land has been used widely by educators, play advocates, designers and parents as a tool to launch robust conversations about play, risk, freedom and children's culture.”

Loose Parts Play.

“The following video is the result of a pilot study. The video shows a whole school lunchtime sped-up, followed by a more detailed look at the “scrap store play pod”. The aim of this study was to find out if introducing loose parts into primary schools during lunchtime could benefit children's free play and support their behavior in school. The study was an immense success and provided a wealth of evidence that children who are happy and engaged in play have a better experience at school. It has also been found that the adults in the school have a better experience of their school day.”
